Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession concerned with promoting health and wellbeing through occupation. The primary goal of OT @ Sports & Spinal is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Our OT’s achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement

Occupational Therapy @ Sports and Spinal cover a wide region over Brisbane. Our mobile home visiting service provides services to NDIS clients, Veterans ( DVA) and Seniors including Home Assist.

We can assist with:

  • Functional home assessment to facilitate independence in daily living
  • Education on safe and efficient ways to perform daily task
  • Equipment prescription
  • Assessment of functional needs to determine suitable equipment
  • Pressure relieving /pressure redistribution equipment, e.g. pressure redistribution cushions and mattresses for the management of pressure ulcers
  • Transfer aids, e.g. hoists
  • Bathroom equipment, e.g. mobile shower commodes, shower chairs and toilet frames
  • Smaller household aids, e.g. adaptive cutlery
  • Wheelchair and seating assessment
  • Personal response systems, e.g. Medi-Alert systems
  • Educating clients, families and carers on the use of specialised equipment, safe transferring and positioning.
  • Advice regarding practical and cost-effective home modifications, e.g. handrail positioning, installation of ramps and chair raisers.
  • Liaison with contractors to ensure clients’ needs are completely addressed

Casey Morrison

Occupational Therapist

Casey graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy (Honours). She is passionate about community care and enabling people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, whilst maintaining safety and independence. A strong focus on safe mobility, reducing falls risks and home modifications enable Casey to help her clients reach this goal. Casey has a keen interest in pressure injury prevention, fatigue management, dementia, brain injury, and cognition rehabilitation. Casey studied Occupational Therapy as a mature aged student after running a successful business as a Personal Training and Massage Therapist. She prides herself on her holistic approach to healthcare which focuses on psychosocial wellness and collaboration with all care providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for her clients.

Emily East

Occupational Therapist

Emily completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) degree at the University of Queensland. Emily is passionate about ensuring each client’s journey is individualised and their personal goals are the forefront of their treatment. She is motivated to support the client to remain independent and to participate in activities that are purposeful and meaningful to them.

Outside of work Emily enjoys going to the beach, water-skiing and socialising with friends.

Bridgette Harbinson

Occupational Therapist

Bridgette graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours). She strives to deliver holistic client-centred care through enabling, empowering and guiding her clients throughout their OT journey. Bridgette believes in always respecting the client’s perspectives and values, which encourages a more collaborative approach to the therapy process.  Bridgette is very passionate about promoting engagement in meaningful occupations and loves seeing her clients achieve their goals. In her free time, Bridgette enjoys camping, being outdoors and travelling.
