Jai Laroiya

Neurological Physiotherapy

Jai graduated from Griffith University in 2015 with a Master of Physiotherapy, after gaining his Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2013.

Prior to joining the Sports and Spinal team, Jai has worked at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital since 2016 and has acquired a strong interest in neurological Physiotherapy. Jai has continued to strengthen his skills by completing a range of neurological specialised courses and workshops.

Jai has been a local to the Sunshine Coast since 2016, enjoying the beach, surf and exploring all that Sunshine Coast has to offer.

Jai’s professional desire is to optimize the quality of life for each of his patients, always ensuring he creates and tailors programs that address the patient’s goals, current functional ability and lifestyle to cater to their specific needs.

Margie Thackwray

Neurological Physiotherapy

Margie graduated from the University of South Australia in 2013 and moved to Queensland. Margie began working for Queensland Health at the Nambour Hospital, Maleny Hospital and then the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Margie has most recently been working in the Community visiting clients from Gympie to Caloundra.

Margie  has a passion for assisting people with neurological disorders such as Motor Neuron Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons and Stroke rehabilitation. Margie enjoys working closely with people to identify and achieve their goals. Margie is here to support clients and their families along their journey whatever that might entail.

Lexi Ironside

General Physiotherapy

Following her passion for helping others achieve their optimal quality of life, Lexi completed her Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University in early 2016. In the years since she has gained experience across a wide variety of hospital wards including inpatient and outpatient orthopaedics, cardiac and pain management programs, and surgical rehabilitation.

Lexi has made the transition to Community Care to help engage her clients and create lifelong health benefits through individualised treatment plans that provide lasting independence in the home.

When Lexi is not working you will undoubtedly find her hiking in the great outdoors or enjoying the sunshine on her stand up paddleboard, (trying to get those “core” muscles working!).

Michael Cottam

General Physiotherapy

Michael graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) in 2017. Michael has spent the last two and a half years working in the aged care and community sectors, treating a wide range of neurological, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic presentations. Michael also has experience in running individual and group falls prevention and balance classes Michael is eager to ensure that each client achieves their goals and is keen to continue to develop his skills moving forward. Outside of work Michael is a keen tennis player and enjoys travelling and the outdoors.

Mitch is available for Physiotherapy in-home appointments.

Heather Hondow

Neurological & Vestibular Physiotherapy
Heather graduated from La Trobe University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy Practice.
Heather is passionate about enhancing the functional outcomes and quality of life of people experiencing neurological and vestibular conditions by guiding the highest quality, evidence-based, goal-oriented, and patient-focused care possible.
To achieve this, Heather has participated in and contributed to, a wide variety of professional development activities. In particular, she has successfully completed advanced competency training in vestibular physiotherapy, and concussion assessment and management. Heather has additionally undertaken professional development and is extensively experienced in the use of motor relearning and normal movement approaches to neurological rehabilitation. She is currently undertaking the neurological titling process of completing a Masters of Rehabilitation (Neurological Physiotherapy) via the Australian Catholic University.
Heather has recently relocated to the gorgeous Sunshine Coast from regional Victoria. She is looking forward to enjoying beautiful sunrises from the Glasshouse mountain peaks, training for upcoming marathon events on the local trails, followed by relaxing at the beach

Sara-Jane Cheong


Sara has recently graduated from physiotherapy at ACU in Brisbane. Sara has done a previous degree in nursing and has had 8 years experience working with acute orthopaedic, medical and surgical patients. Although Sara has found her true passion in physiotherapy and has a keen interest in rehabilitation. Sara is excited to work with people to help them achieve their full potential.

In her pastime Sara enjoys walking her dachshund Oscar, swimming at the beach and watching AFL

Kaitlin Davis

Neurological Physiotherapy

Kaitlin is a motivated and passionate physiotherapist who is experienced in working with a wide range of neurological conditions. Over the course of her career, she has worked within both public and private hospitals in all areas of neurological physiotherapy – Acute, Subacute and outpatients.

Since graduating in New Zealand with a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in Physiotherapy in 2011 she has gone on to complete the further study within Vestibular rehabilitation and PD warrior- Specialised physiotherapy for Parkinson’s Disease.  Kaitlin completed her formal Bobath training in 2016 – A specialized concept for the assessment and treatment of neurological conditions.

Her particular areas of interest include stroke, traumatic brain injury rehab, vestibular rehabilitation, Amputee Rehabilitation, Parkinson’s Disease and multiple sclerosis.

In her spare time, Kaitlin enjoys spending time chasing after her two young boys.

Piumi Herath

General Physiotherapy

Piumi has completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at the University of Queensland and is passionate about educating and supporting others as they strive to achieve their goals. She has had clinical experience in hospital and community settings and uses an exercise-based approach that is tailored to each individual.  She has a special interest in fields such as musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory and neurological physiotherapy and is enthusiastic about continuing to build her knowledge and skills in these areas to provide high-quality care.

Piumi is also passionate about supporting wider communities and has previously lead a volunteering team to Romania to educate children in disadvantaged communities. She has also had up to12 years of experience as a dancer and choreographer in traditional Sri Lankan and Bollywood dance troupes.  Outside of the clinic, Piumi enjoys spending time with her family & friends, practising dancing and exploring beaches or waterfalls.

Marina Melnikoff

General Physiotherapy

Marina completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Australian Catholic University.

Marina has an extensive sporting background in gymnastics, powerlifting and athletics. She also holds a Bachelor of Exercise Science with Honours, which assisted in developing her passion in musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation. Marina believes in taking a holistic approach to patient care and utilising exercise therapy throughout treatment to optimise outcomes and achieve patient goals.

Outside of work she can often be found at the beach, surfing or diving. She enjoys an active lifestyle outdoors that provides new and exciting challenges.
