Matthew Sauer

Matthew is a physiotherapist who is passionate about helping his patients move better, feel stronger, and return to the activities they love. He graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours), achieving First Class Honours and received the University Medal for academic performance.

Matthew has a dedicated interest in managing chronic musculoskeletal pain, specifically lower back pain, which was the focus of his honours research and remains a personal passion. He has furthered his clinical skills in this area by completing ESSA-accredited training in chronic disease and pain management.

Beyond chronic pain, Matthew provides high-quality care across a diverse range of conditions for patients of all ages. He can assist you with everything from acute musculoskeletal/ sporting injuries (including return to sport programming), to more complex post-surgical rehabilitation and management of neurological conditions like Parkinson’s and stroke. Matthew also has clinical experience in the treatment of vertigo, concussion, and whiplash.

While Matthew takes an evidence-based approach to care, he believes the best outcomes result from treating the individual, not just the diagnosis. He takes the time to understand your experience, beliefs, concerns, and goals, providing clear guidance to build your confidence in successfully managing your condition. His sessions typically combine hands on treatment, education, and tailored exercise programs.

Outside of the clinic, Matthew stays active through CrossFit and running. Growing up with a background in competitive athletics and basketball, he’s always keen to talk shop about the latest NBA or NBL games, as well as training strategies. When he isn’t exercising, he’s usually making the most of the Gold Coast lifestyle with his family and trying to keep up with his kids.

Matthew is available for physiotherapy consults at Sports & Spinal Broadbeach.
