The Indooroopilly Sports & Spinal team uses the latest evidence-based treatments to treat various conditions, including shoulder, neck and back pain, sporting injuries, lower limb conditions, women’s health, headaches, work cover incidents, pre-and post-surgical, motor vehicle accidents and more.

Our team will provide you with a comprehensive assessment and treatment from start to finish. Our clinicians will work with YOU to facilitate your complete recovery.

Sports & Spinal Indooroopilly is NDIS registered and accepts Medicare rebates and HICAPS health fund claims. EFTPOS and credit card facilities are also available for payment.

Parking:

Parking is available on site at 31 Station Rd. When you arrive, please press the buzzer on the bollard to the right as you approach the gate. A friendly member of our admin team will welcome you and open the gate for you. Please head to the back of the car park where you will find assigned parking for Sports & Spinal. There is an elevator back towards the gate, head up to level 1 where you will find the clinic and our friendly team ready to welcome you.

Sports & Spinal Indooroopilly is a 4 minute walk from the Indooroopilly bus interchange and Indooroopilly train station.

Simran Shah

Ankle, Knee & Lower Limb Physiotherapist

Simran holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) and a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland and is a titled physiotherapy with the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

Simran has developed a particular interest in complex whiplash disorders and lower limb injuries specifically sports related knee, ankle and foot conditions. She has extensive experience in using a mixed approach of hands-on therapy and tailored exercise prescription to ensure that each of her patients achieves their goals.

Simran prides herself on developing easy to follow step by step treatment plans that not only rehabilitate the original injury but ensure her patients leave with their risk of re-injury being as low as possible. Simran enjoys travelling and has volunteered/studied as a physiotherapy student or physiotherapist in Fiji, India, Nepal and Belgium and loves treating people from all walks of life.

Simran has also completed additional training in vestibular physiotherapy and lower limb tendon injury management.

Patrick McGaw

Remedial Massage Therapist

Pat Graduated from Q Academy Brisbane with a Diploma of Remedial Massage in September 2017. Pat has since expanded his clinical knowledge by continuing his professional education after completing his Diploma. A highlight of Pat’s carer was being a member of the medical team at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Pat has worked alongside Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, and Myotherapist.

Pat uses various Remedial techniques in his treatments, including Cupping, Dry Needling, Trigger Point Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, Myofascial Release, Rock blades Massage Tools, Deep Tissue Work, and Relaxation Massages.

Pat likes to road cycle and loves going to the Gym. Pat also loves getting away for long weekends with his two dogs and camper trailer. In his downtime, you can catch him volunteering his time as a Motorsport Fire and Rescue office. Pat has also volunteered at various events in Bathurst, Gold Coast, Townsville, Newcastle, Australian and Singaporean Formula 1 GP and many local grassroots events in Ipswich and Warwick.

Zac Knight

Shoulders, Knees & Ankle Physiotherapist

Originally hailing from Stanthorpe on the Granite Belt, Zac moved to Brisbane to study, where he graduated from UQ with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours). Zac is a highly passionate sportsperson with a deep interest in all sports-related injuries, more specifically shoulders, knees, and ankles. This interest is on the background of a lifetime exposure to sports with Rugby and Touch being his personal favorites. Zac places a large emphasis on exercise first focused rehabilitation.

Zac is an advocate for maintaining physically active throughout injury and rehabilitation to keep people functioning at their best through adversity and injury. Outside of Physiotherapy Zac enjoys spending time with friends and exploring new parts of Brisbane

Nigel Smith

Hamstring & Lower Limb Physiotherapist

Nigel has an educational background in both Exercise and Sports Science and Physiotherapy. Furthermore, he is an accredited APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist and has worked within sports medicine clinics or elite sport since 2005. He has been involved with professional Cricket, Soccer and Rugby Union teams and is currently the Head Physiotherapist for The University of Queensland Rugby Football Club.

Nigel is finalising his studies for his PhD thesis investigating hamstring injuries in AFL players and has published some of this research.

Paul Fien

Lower Back and Pelvis Physiotherapist

Principal physiotherapist and practice owner Paul Fien has extensive experience in sports and musculoskeletal practice. Paul’s many years of practical experience have exposed him to a broad range of acute and long-term injuries – with Paul particularly enjoying the challenge of complex chronic injury recovery and management.

Paul has lead physiotherapy services for St George Rugby League and the University of Queensland Red Heavies Rugby Union – while also enjoying some ‘guest appearances’ for the Brisbane Lions. Outside of the various football codes, Paul previously coordinated physiotherapy services for the Tri-Alliance triathlon squad and has treated many national and international level athletes in track and field and cycling. A little know fact about Paul is that somewhere in his past, he even enjoyed a stint as a physiotherapist for the Holden Racing Team at Bathurst!

Elise Wild-Smith

Exercise Physiologist

Elise graduated with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology at the Queensland University of Technology and has additional training in exercise oncology and Pilates. Elise also has experience working in paediatrics, focussing on neurological conditions. While Elise enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions, she has a keen interest in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Elise is very passionate about the positive impact of physical activity on health and well-being and understand that this will look different for everyone. Elise endeavours to facilitate holistic, individualised, and achievable interventions for the best possible patient outcomes.

Outside of her role as an Exercise Physiologist, Elise enjoys leading an active and balanced lifestyle, going to the beach and finding the best gluten-free eats.

Peter Herzig

Gut Health, Sports Nutrition & Chronic Disease Dietitian

Peter is available for telehealth appointments only

Peter is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and Sports Dietitian (AccSD) who is passionate about a client-centred approach to nutrition; tailoring advice and plans to the individual.

With a background in sport science and an extensive history of cycling, Peter enjoys fine-tuning the nutrition plans of all cyclists and is currently the consulting Dietitian to the QAS cycling squad. Peter is also very passionate about the nutritional needs of recreational, junior, club, Audax and Gran Fondo participants.

Peter’s interests lie not only in sport. He enjoys helping people from all walks of life to meet their nutritional goals by tailoring advice to their individual circumstances.

A vaginal pessary is a silicon device that is used to support the walls of the vagina when there is pelvic organ prolapse (POP). This can be the prolapse of the bladder, bowel or uterus 🤸‍♀️

There are many different types of pessaries catering for different prolapses or incontinence. Our Women's Health Physio team can decide which pessary to use that is most suitable for your condition and support your individual needs.

What does the research show? 🔎

✔️Combining pelvic floor muscle training and pessary fittings led to twice as many women perceiving improvements in prolapse symptoms and POP-specific quality of life. 

✔️When a pessary is fitted, significantly greater improvements are made in reducing prolapse symptoms like discomfort, urinary issues, and defecatory issues.

✔️The use of pessaries when managing POP can delay or even avoid the need for surgical intervention. Plus, pessary fittings can be used to help manage urinary incontinence, pelvic pain syndromes and aid in constipation management.
