Cara Niven

Cara completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the Australian Catholic University in Brisbane and has gained diverse clinical experience across all areas of physiotherapy.

Each day in the clinic, Cara treats a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. This remains a core focus of her practice and an area she continues to feel passionate about. From managing sporting injuries and joint pain to guiding clients through post-surgical rehabilitation, Cara enjoys the challenge of problem-solving and developing personalised treatment plans to help people move better, feel stronger, and return to the activities they love. She is also a qualified dry needling practitioner and regularly incorporates this technique to support pain relief and recovery.

Cara has also completed further specialised training and is a qualified lymphoedema and lipoedema therapist. She is experienced in treating lymphoedema affecting the upper and lower limbs, breasts, genitals, trunk, abdomen, and paediatric cases. Her comprehensive treatment approach for lymphoedema and lipoedema includes manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, exercise prescription, education, and garment prescription. Cara also treats other swelling-related conditions such as chronic venous insufficiency.

She loves incorporating Pilates into her rehabilitation programs to improve strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Whether you’re managing recurring back pain, recovering after surgery, or simply looking to start a new form of exercise, Cara can tailor Pilates to suit your needs. She invites clients to join one of her Pilates classes as part of their recovery journey.

In addition, Cara works extensively with NDIS clients every day. She collaborates closely with clients, allied health teams, support coordinators, and support workers to ensure comprehensive, individualised care. Cara enjoys supporting NDIS participants to improve their independence and empowering them to achieve their personal goals.

Cara still remembers the exact day she knew she wanted to be a physiotherapist, at just 14 years old! As an avid soccer player, her interest was sparked by the care and support she received from physiotherapists for injuries sustained on the field. She understands firsthand the physical, social, and emotional impact of injury and ensures her clients’ best interests are always at the forefront of their care. Together, you’ll smash goals and get back to doing what you love.

Away from physiotherapy, Cara enjoys playing soccer, cheering on the Broncos under the Friday night lights at Suncorp, and escaping into a good book. Word of warning: if the Broncos have a win, you’ll definitely hear about it.

Cara is available for Physiotherapy appointments at our Redcliffe clinic.
