Sports and Spinal Physio
Sports & Spinal Indooroopilly is located on the first floor at 31 Station Rd, Indooroopilly. Conveniently located near Toowong, Kenmore, St. Lucia, Chelmer, Chapel Hill, Sherwood and Taringa and other surrounding suburbs, our clinic provides professional remedial massage therapy for the local community.
Massage therapy at Indooroopilly commonly supports people experiencing muscle tightness from prolonged desk work, postural strain through the neck and shoulders, tension-related headaches, and recovery from training loads or physically demanding jobs. Sessions are adjusted based on how your body responds, rather than applying the same pressure or technique each visit.
Do you suffer from sore muscles and stiff, aching joints?
Are you experiencing tension, headaches and back or neck pain?
Our remedial massage treatments are focused on reducing muscular tightness, improving circulation, and supporting tissue recovery. By restoring normal muscle tone and movement, massage can help reduce compensatory strain patterns that often contribute to recurring discomfort.
Our highly trained therapists use a combination of techniques tailored to your presentation — whether you need targeted deep tissue work, mobility-focused soft tissue release, or gentler recovery-based treatment. Regular massage may help reduce overload in commonly affected areas such as the neck, lower back and hips.
Treatment decisions are guided by how your muscles function in daily life — how long you sit, how you train, how you lift and how you recover — rather than focusing only on short-term relief. This supports longer-lasting improvements and helps prevent symptoms returning as quickly.
Sports & Spinal understands that every body is different. Whether you are an athlete, a busy parent, or someone working in a sedentary office role, your therapist will develop a personalised plan to help improve comfort, mobility and overall quality of life.
Our Massage Therapists work closely with our Physiotherapists to ensure your care is coordinated when needed, particularly for injury recovery, persistent pain or return-to-activity support.
Sports & Spinal Indooroopilly is NDIS registered and accepts Medicare rebates and HICAPS health fund claims. EFTPOS and credit card facilities are also available for payment.

Remedial massage focuses on identifying the underlying cause of musculoskeletal dysfunction. Remedial massage involves the use of a variety of therapeutic techniques designed to locate and repair damaged areas in your body, such as muscles, tendons and ligaments. Remedial massage can stimulate the blood supply and make joints more mobile. Regular remedial massage will assist in managing recurrent injury or prevention.
Benefits of remedial massage include:
- Relieve muscle tension
- Deep Relaxation
- Increase the range of movement in joints
- Recover from minor injuries
- Reduce stress and headache
- Improve the quality of sleep
- Increase blood circulation
- Promote tissue regeneration
- Reduce scar tissue
- Speed up the removal of toxins and metabolic waste
Sports massage is a type of massage focusing on loosening muscle fibres caused by sport-related tension and helps aid an athlete’s performance. A sports massage is ideal for people who have sport-related massages or want to improve their recovery post sporting events.
Through the use of hands-on techniques to your muscles, massage aims to increase flexibility and decrease pain. Sports massage will often utilise various modalities such as remedial massage, trigger point therapy, cross fibre techniques and deep tissue work.
Sports massages have a range of benefits such as reaching peak performance, helping the muscles to recover correctly and preparing the body for future exercise.
Massage also helps recovery from soft tissue injuries such as sprains and strains. Everybody experiences some form of stress through work, family, the environment and society. Mental tensions, frustrations and insecurity cause the most damage. Hormones released by stress shrink the vessels, inhibiting circulation.
A stressed mind and body mean the heart works harder. Breathing becomes rapid and shallow, and digestion slows. Nearly every body process is degraded. Studies show that stress can cause migraines, hypertension (high blood pressure), depression, peptic ulcers, etc. In fact, researchers have estimated 80% of disease is stress-related. Soothing and relaxing massage therapy can counteract the effects of stress.
Injuries massage can treat:
- Headaches & migraines
- Frozen shoulder
- Sore shoulder and neck
- Back pain & sciatica
- Tennis and golfers elbow
- Sprains, strains and tears
- Over-use injuries
- Shin splints
Lymphatic Massage is commonly referred to as Lymphatic Drainage. Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmical massage treatment performed by trained lymphatic massage therapist to stimulate the circulation of lymph fluid around the body. This helps to rapidly speed up the removal of wastes and toxins from a sluggish lymphatic system. Lymphatic Massage can also aid in the prevention of swelling after injury or surgery. It is also thought to provide a major boost to your immune system.
If you have had a recent injury or surgery, suffer from poor circulation or are physically inactive, your limbs may be swollen up and your lymphatic system will need help to be effective again.
With manual Lymphatic Drainage, lymph vessels are stimulated to open up and collect the excess fluid, which is then directed to the lymph nodes where it is filtered and can re-enter the bloodstream.
In addition, lymph nodes filter waste from our body cells and assist the immune system in building an immune response; that is why manual Lymphatic Drainage is also recommended if you want to boost your immune defences and detox.
Some of the conditions that may benefit from lymphatic drainage massage include:
- Swollen legs or arms due to fluid retention
- Swelling of a limb: pre or post-surgery
- Lymphoedema
- Post-mastectomy or breast cancer treatment
- Breast tenderness & congestion
- Fibromyalgia & Lupus
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Depression & Anxiety
- Hormonal & emotional imbalances
- Cellulite fat accumulation
- Recurrent infections such as colds, flu, tonsillitis, sinus & yeast infections
Pregnancy massage at Sports & Spinal combines relaxation massage and deep tissue. Our massage therapists adapt their techniques to address changes a woman goes through during pregnancy.
Pregnancy massage helps you by targeting specific areas of the body that needs to be relaxed or allow more movement. As your body changes during this time, it is important to prepare the body and aid the changes instead of trying to fight them. Pregnancy is a joyful time in everyone’s lives, but it is also the most taxing on the body, so it makes sense to keep your body moving and at optimal health during this time. Pregnancy or prenatal massage is a type of massage therapy designed to decrease stress/anxiety, reduce swelling in the legs and arms, improve circulation and reduce musculoskeletal aches and pains.
During pregnancy, many women experience low back, pelvic and buttock pain due to hormonal changes and the additional load placed on their body due to their growing baby.
Women who undergo massage therapy during pregnancy consistently report decreased anxiety, stress, leg pain, lower back pain and improved sleep. Pregnancy massage has even proved to be effective during labour in managing pain and improving the emotional experience that labour can bring on.
The benefits include:
- Preparation of muscles required in childbirth.
- Neck and back pain relief is caused by muscle imbalance and imperfect posture.
- Assist in maintaining proper posture.
- Emotional support through nurturing touch.
- Relaxation and decreased insomnia.
- Lower levels of cramping, particularly in the calf muscles.
- Reduced sciatic pain.

What Indooroopilly Patients Say
The whole experience here was 5-star! All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, I received a massage from Destiny for shoulder/neck pain and knee tendonitis and she was extremely helpful in both areas, always checking if the pressure was okay with very targetted massage techniques, she was also willing to give advice on the best recovery methods, I feel significantly better now! I’ve had remedial massages my entire life and this has easily yielded the best results, I will be returning for any problem areas and general maintenance!!! HIGHLY recommend!
Carla is the best massage therapist I’ve ever seen for my lower back pain, relating to disk issues. I went in with pain and left without it, regaining range of movement. Impressive !
After struggling with headaches and lower back pain, I started seeing Massage Therapist, Destiny Fountain at the St Lucia clinic. She has been brilliant in being able to pinpoint the source of the pain, providing effective treatment, and exercises to help alleviate future issues.
I can’t recommend her treatment highly enough.
Great practitioners and a very friendly welcoming practice. I have had great physiotherapy and massage experiences at this practice and would thoroughly recommend them!
Cannot recommend enough, the entire team are wonderful. Paul and Sim have both helped me with physio, Carla is an experienced and excellent at remedial massage and Elise does a great job as EP with Pilates. Always a pleasure to be welcomed by Maddie as well. Thank you all.
Followed them from UQ because of the personal investment in my care and consistent quality and ease of access.

This weekend, we brought together people from across healthcare, allied health and personal injury for a day of learning, connection and collaboration, all with one shared goal: better outcomes for the people we support.
We were especially proud to bring together Katie Lyndon, CEO of Exercise & Sports Science Australia, and Rob LoPresti, CEO of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, for the first time. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to connect with our physiotherapy and exercise physiology teams, as well as the wider Sports & Spinal Group, and share ideas about the future of our professions.
A huge thank you to our incredible experts, panellists and presenters for sharing their knowledge, and to our generous sponsors, VALD, ASICS, EMS DolorClast Oceania, Alpha Sport and Bared Footwear, for helping make the day such a success.
We’re already looking forward to Better Outcomes 2027. Until then, we can’t wait to see the ideas, connections and knowledge from this year continue to make a difference.
