Benjamin Frank

Exercise Physiologist

Before becoming an exercise physiologist, Ben worked as a personal trainer for approximately 10 years, with a focus on weight loss, general fitness, muscle building and musculoskeletal rehabilitation alongside a physiotherapist.

Ben moved to Gympie at the end of 2023 from Melbourne where he completed two bachelor degrees in Science and Exercise and Sports Science followed by a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin University.

During his university internships Ben was privileged to work with junior high-level athletes in strength and conditioning as well as in clinical and hospital settings working with orthopaedic, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, cardiovascular, neurological and mental health patients.

Ben has always had a passion for the gym environment and helping people through exercise, particularly in the midst of physical injuries and mental adversities.

In 2022, he nearly lost his arm in a bike accident, which required surgery. This alongside personal experiences with chronic back pain, sciatica and several lower limb injuries have not only improved his knowledge and application of rehabilitation on a personal level, but have also developed a passion for supporting others experiencing physical and mental challenges in their own healing and growth journeys.

He has a particular interest in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, mental health, metabolic health (diabetes, PCOS, cancer, eating disorders) and working with athletes and defence veterans.

Ben believes mindset is everything and has a strong focus on building relationships with clients to empower them to achieve sustainable, life-changing results, both physically and mentally.

Ben is available for exercise physiology consults at our Gympie clinic.

Managing back pain isn’t about avoiding movement — it’s about moving smarter.

Our @sportsandspinalkawana physiotherapist Georgia and exercise physiologist Tenikka are demonstrating how we modify Pilates reformer exercises to suit different stages of back pain recovery.

From acute flare-ups to long-term rehab, we use progressions and regressions to safely load the spine, activate stabilising muscles, and rebuild functional movement patterns.

No two backs are the same — and your exercise program shouldn’t be either. Whether we’re focusing on core control, spinal mobility, or graded exposure to load, your plan is tailored to your individual presentation, goals, and pain response.

Because the best results come from individualised care — not cookie-cutter plans.

Your body, your pace, your plan ✅
