Michael Bekker

Physiotherapist

Michael graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (First Class Honours). He enjoys working with a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions and has a particular interest in neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, and spinal conditions, including nerve-related presentations such as sciatica and radiculopathy.

Michael takes a calm, supportive, and practical approach to physiotherapy. He places a strong emphasis on helping patients understand their condition, feel reassured about their recovery, and leave each session with a clear plan and practical strategies they can confidently use day to day. His focus is not just on reducing pain, but on helping people feel more in control of their health in the long term.

He has experience working with patients across private care, chronic disease management plans, DVA, NDIS, WorkCover, and CTP, and enjoys supporting people of all ages and backgrounds, including those managing persistent or more complex conditions.

Outside the clinic, Michael enjoys training at the gym, playing and watching basketball, travelling overseas, and starting the day with a good iced latte.

Michael is available for physiotherapy consults at Sports & Spinal Mt Gravatt.

Alexander Young

Physiotherapist

Physiotherapy was a comfortable career choice for Alex after excelling and competing at an elite level of Triathlon from a young age. Alex has spent his career in private Physiotherapist practice on the south side of Brisbane city. He graduated with a Bachelor of Exercise Science and a Masters of Physiotherapy at Griffith University with academic excellence.

Alex has a keen interest in spinal pain as well as shoulder injuries which he frequently sees at the Mt Gravatt practice. He has also had exposure to these among many other conditions working within AFL, Queensland Premier Grade Rugby Union and soccer teams at an elite level. Alex was fortunate to spend time working in a strength and conditioning gym, where he was able to advance his services and abilities from some of the leading strength and conditioning coaches in Australia. He has developed relationships with well known specialists and surgeons within the area and is one of the go to Physiotherapists in the region for Pre & Post Operative rehabilitation

Alex prides himself on his clear and precise communication and rapport building with patients. His patients will benefit from an active listener with a high proficiency of exercise prescription skills. Alex has a strong passion for individual patient care and identifies the main contributor to their pain or concern where he is then able to address this specifically and efficiently. He helps individuals to reach outstanding outcomes by optimizing patient health and by getting them back into what matters most – whether it be back on the field, a yoga class or a jog around the park. Alex aims to empower individuals and give them the tools and solutions to manage for the long term.

Outside of the clinic, Alex enjoys a round of golf, travelling, supporting the Boston Celtics in the NBA and spending time at the beach.

Alex is available for appointments at our Mt Gravatt clinic.
