Sports & Spinal Kawana is located off Kawana Way, and only a short distance from the new Sunshine Coast hospital precinct, conveniently located near Brightwater, Currimundi, Wurtulla and Birtinya.

Accredited Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals providing exercise and lifestyle therapies to prevent and manage chronic disease, injury, and disability.

An Exercise Physiologist (EP) is a 4 year, University-trained Allied Health professional who is an exercise prescription expert. They will work with you to design a specific exercise program tailored to your injuries, health status and goals.

Our Exercise Physiologists at Sports & Spinal can help your condition by working with you to formulate an appropriate treatment plan to assist in reaching your specific goals. Exercise Physiologists use movement and exercise in conjunction with specific education and motivational guidance to treat and manage your conditions.

Sports & Spinal’s accredited Exercise Physiologist can assist with Diabetes & Obesity, General Health & Wellbeing, Mental Health Issues, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Neurological Conditions, Strength & Conditioning, Women’s Health, Aging, Chronic Pain, Fatigue, Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Paediatrics and Cancer.

Exercise physiology at Kawana often supports the transition from treatment into long-term capacity building, particularly for individuals returning to work, managing persistent conditions or rebuilding tolerance to physical load. Programs are progressed with real-world demands in mind, ensuring strength gains translate beyond the clinic environment.

You can expect our Exercise Physiologist to listen to your personal story and ask questions, so they can work with you to guide an appropriate treatment plan. Our Exercise Physiologist will complete a detailed, goal-focused, clinical, and functional assessment.

Treatment will vary and be specific to you but will likely involve modified movement and exercises to build your capacity and function through strength, fitness, balance, and more. Treatment will change and progress while working alongside your Exercise Physiologist. Our Exercise physiologists will provide education on health, conditions, injuries and what to do and what not to do may take place in different environments, including our onsite gym, your regular gym and pools, depending on your interests and goals. Our Exercise Physiologist believes in a multi-disciplinary approach and will work with other health professionals to help manage your condition.

Sports & Spinal Kawana is NDIS registered and accepts Medicare rebates and HICAPS health fund claims. EFTPOS and credit card facilities are also available for payment.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Dion, who played a key role in my recovery after experiencing a vertebral prolapse. I was unable to walk without crutches, and thanks to Dion’s exceptional care, including targeted massage therapy and a personalized exercise regimen, I saw incredible improvement within just one month.

His professional expertise, dedication, and compassionate approach made all the difference in my recovery journey. I am now walking freely and feeling stronger every day. Thank you, Dion, for your outstanding support!

Very knowledgeable and caring – not only in regards to your injury, but in regards to you as a person. Made me feel very comfortable. I had Ashley as my Physio and Shannon as my Exercise Physio. Highly recommend 🙂 also Ally and Mel at reception were very helpful with anything I needed help with in regards to my appointments.

He has been amazing with his services and provided guidance regarding exercise schedule which really helped in the speedy recovery.Without his help and guidance my husband couldn’t have returned to his baseline and able to get back to work so quickly.Thank you so much Dion!!

Grip strength: it’s not just about winning bragging rights in the clinic (although, that’s definitely a bonus!) 💪

Strong grip strength is also a key indicator of overall health. Research shows people with stronger grips often experience better health outcomes, faster rehab, and even improved cognitive function as they age. It’s a simple way to track progress, guide strength training, and monitor rehabilitation.

Big thanks to the legends at @coolum_sportsandspinal for this clip, the team has some serious grip strength!
