The Beenleigh Sports & Spinal team uses the latest evidence-based treatments to treat various conditions, including shoulder, neck and back pain, sporting injuries, lower limb conditions, women’s health, headaches, work cover incidents, pre-and post-surgical, motor vehicle accidents and more.

Clinton Tran

Physiotherapist

Clinton graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from Griffith University with First Class Honours and was awarded the prestigious university medal for his academic achievements. Clinton also teaches anatomy to physiotherapy students at Griffith University. His passion lies in combining hands-on treatment and exercise to help all his patients achieve their goals.

Clinton has a strong interest in managing and treating sporting injuries and has worked closely with both local and elite sporting organisations such as the Queensland Academy of Sport and the Brisbane Roar during his studies. Clinton has also completed research in hamstring injuries and function in elite track and field athletes.

In his spare time, Clinton is a competitive powerlifter and enjoys watching different types of sports.

Clinton is available for Physiotherapy appointments at our Beenleigh location.

Yoshiki Chen

Physiotherapist

Yoshiki graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree and was awarded the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence for each year of his studies. Yoshiki’s approach to treatment involves a combination of hands-on therapy and a tailored home exercise program to help patients get back to doing the things they love. Yoshiki prioritises empowering their patients and encouraging them to take an active role in their recovery.

Growing up, Yoshiki participated in a variety of sports, including soccer, tennis, golf, and snowboarding. These experiences gave him a deep appreciation for the body’s potential and naturally developed his passion for sports physiotherapy.

Outside of the clinic, Yoshiki enjoys lifting weights at the gym, spending time with his mates, or finding the next country to go traveling to!

Yoshiki is available for Physiotherapy appointments at our Beenleigh clinic.

Belinda Fribence

Exercise Physiologist

Belinda Fribence has Graduated with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology on top of her degree in Bachelor of Exercise Science. As well as this, Belinda is a full member of Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA).

Belinda’s passion in the field of Exercise Physiology is driven by her past as a competitive athlete in the world of Track and Field and sustaining carer changing injuries. As a result, she has become driven to provide holistic care with the aim of helping individuals regain their mobility and functionality as well as improving the methods of injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Working closely with surfers and martial art athletes as well as being one herself she has developed a key passion in improving the longevity and mobility of joints, particularly in the hips. Working with the body in a 360-degree approach is a personal goal of hers and is aiming to build upon her knowledge and expertise in this field.

Belinda is available for Exercise Physiology appointments at our Beenleigh clinic.

Tim Dunstone

Sports Physiotherapist

Tim Dunstone gained his initial physiotherapy qualification in Adelaide from the renowned School of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia. He worked in Adelaide in both private practice and onsite in the industrial setting (in the automotive industry) for a few years. Tim served the profession’s peak association, the Australian Physiotherapy Association, on the SA Branch Council for four years.

Tim then moved to Sydney and completed two masters degrees in sports and manipulative physiotherapy and taught musculoskeletal physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. He conducted some biomechanical research into low back injuries in elite rowers in the School of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Sydney for three years. He was the Dean of St Andrew’s College at the University of Sydney for eight years and Dean of St John’s College at the University of Queensland for four years.

Tim rowed and coxed to a national level with the Adelaide Rowing Club. He has since coached rowing to an elite level with the South Australian Sports Institute, the Sydney University Rowing Club, Wilderness School, and the first eight at Scotch College in Adelaide. He has recently coached rowing for the last five years at the UQ Boat Club.

In his spare time, Tim enjoyed singing with the Sydney Philharmonia Choir for eight years, who are the resident chorus of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, frequently performing in the Sydney Opera House. His performances with the Sydney Philharmonia included a tour of the UK in 2010, singing Maher’s 8th at the Royal Albert Hall on the opening night of the BBC Proms Series, in addition to concerts at Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Australia House.

He has been the physiotherapist for elite soccer, cricket, and rowing teams, and has more than seventeen years of private practice clinical experience. Tim is one of only 201 physiotherapists in Australia, who are dual-titled members of the APA, as both an APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and an APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. In 2020 Tim was made a Member of the Australian College of Physiotherapists. He is also a Justice of the Peace (Qualified) for the State of Queensland. Tim is married with two young daughters.

Patrick McGaw

Remedial Massage Therapist

Pat Graduated from Q Academy Brisbane with a Diploma of Remedial Massage in September 2017. Pat has since expanded his clinical knowledge by continuing his professional education after completing his Diploma. A highlight of Pat’s carer was being a member of the medical team at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Pat has worked alongside Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, and Myotherapist.

Pat uses various Remedial techniques in his treatments, including Cupping, Dry Needling, Trigger Point Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, Myofascial Release, Rock blades Massage Tools, Deep Tissue Work, and Relaxation Massages.
Pat likes to road cycle and loves going to the Gym. Pat also loves getting away for long weekends with his two dogs and camper trailer. In his downtime, you can catch him volunteering his time as a Motorsport Fire and Rescue office. Pat has also volunteered at various events in Bathurst, Gold Coast, Townsville, Newcastle, Australian and Singaporean Formula 1 GP and many local grassroots events in Ipswich and Warwick.

Pat is available for Remedial massage appointments at our Woolloongabba and Beenleigh clinics.

This physio is very good, I am treated by Tim who used to be an athlete himself and I have heard that he used to bench over 300kg for full sets. I would have to say I think that if I were to reccomend people to come here I would recommend Annaliese however the whole staff here is actually very good

⭐ 150ml egg whites (approximately 4 eggs)
⭐ 1 cup caster sugar
⭐ 1 teaspoon white vinegar
⭐ 400g reduced-fat Greek yogurt
⭐ 300g strawberries, diced
⭐ 300g blueberries

Method 🥄
1. Place the egg whites in the bowl of an electric mixer and whisk on high speed until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, waiting 30 seconds between each tablespoon. Whisk for 6 minutes or until stiff and glossy.
2. Scrape the sides of the electric mixer, add the vinegar and whisk for 2 minutes or until glossy and combined.
3. Spoon 6 rounds onto the baking tray. Reduce the oven temperature to 120°C and bake for 30 minutes or until crisp to touch.
4. Cool in the oven for 1 hour.
5. Top meringues with yogurt and fresh berries or whatever fruit you like!

Healthy Gingerbread - Dietitian Approved ✅

▫️ 1 1/2 cups wholemeal spelt flour (plus 1/4 cup extra)*
▫️ 1/4 cup maple syrup
▫️ 2 tsp ground ginger
▫️ 2 tsp ground cinnamon
▫️ 1/4 tsp ground cloves
▫️ 1/4 tsp bicarb soda
▫️ 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
▫️ 2 tbsp milk (any type)

Method 🥄
1. Preheat oven to 150C.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the 1 1/2 cups flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and bicarb soda.
3. Form a well in the centre of the flour mixture and pour in the oil, maple syrup, and milk then mix to combine.
4. If the mixture is sticky, add the extra 1/4 cup of flour. 
5. With a rolling pin, roll the dough flat. Roughly 0.5cm thick.
6. Cut the dough out with cookie cutters and lay the biscuits on a lined baking tray.
7. Form a ball with the left-over dough and repeat steps 4-5 for the remaining dough.
8. Bake for 10-13 minutes until golden and then decorate however you wish!

* Can use Gluten Free or Buckwheat flour as an alternative 

Makes 18 biscuits: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Low fodmap, Vegan

Last month Maroochydore Exercise Physiologist, Blair Austin graduated to local celebrity status!

Blair took part in an interview on ABC radio 🎙discussing ‘bungalow legs’ - a term referring to muscle wastage in the legs as a result of not regularly using stairs🦵It is often experienced by elderly people who move into a single story dwelling. 🏠

Maintaining leg strength is important as we age, to ensure mobility and independence is maintained.🕺 A lack of leg strength can greatly increase the risk of falls and injury.

You might be worried about the way the person you’re talking to will react, and there’s a lot of fear around getting it wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️

That’s why this Perinatal Mental Health Week, we want you to know that everyone needs help at some point in their lives, and everyone deserves compassion and support 🙋🏾‍♀️ 

Reaching out, truly listening and making a connection is more important than getting the words completely perfect. 

The PANDA Helpline provides counselling, referral and peer support from parents who have been through similar challenges. When someone calls, they will speak with a counsellor who understands the challenges of being a new or expecting parent. PANDA counsellors and peer workers listen with kindness and compassion, help callers explore support options, and can also provide information about appropriate specialist services” @pandanational
