Robina Pilates @ Sports & Spinal

Clinical Pilates is now referred to as Core, Strength and Mobility Classes Studio or Mat to keep in line with recent changes to Private Health Insurance.
Sports & Spinal’s Clinical Pilates classes are based on seven key principles: Breathing, Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Flow and Efficiency of Movement and Flexibility.

Benefits of our classes are Improved Core Strength & Posture, Increased Flexibility & Muscular Strength, Injury Prevention, Injury Rehabilitation, Restoring Regular Movement, Improved Breathing Control, Enhanced Muscular Control & Co-Ordination, Improved Fitness Levels & Balance, Pre & Post-Natal Exercises.

Safe, dynamic stability programs, with small group participants of 4 people in a session. The class runs for 60 minutes and is ran by University Qualified instructors (Either Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist). The intimate classes mean that you form a relationship with your Pilates Instructor who will know your body and what you need.

Our classes are ideal for injury rehabilitation and prevention, pre and postnatal recovery and are individually tailored rehab programs based on goals and initial assessment.

To begin our classes, you will need to have an initial assessment, with one of our Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist, the clinician will conduct an initial assessment and design a program specific to your needs. After the initial assessment, the first 2 weeks are FREE! (Unlimited classes). Once the 2-week trial ends, Sports & Spinal have the flexibility to book sessions individually, in a pack of 10 or within a membership (3, 6 or 12 months & direct debit options available, speak to reception to find out more)

Our Core, Strength & Mobility classes sessions are claimable on Private Health Insurance.

Our Pilates classes are held within our Robina Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy clinic which can be found within the HQ Building at 36/58 Riverwalk Avenue. Bookings are essential for our Core, Strength & Mobility classes.

Classes are available Monday to Friday. Medicare rebates and HICAPS health fund claims are available. EFTPOS and credit card facilities are also available for payment. Modern, clean and inviting, your local Robina practice is popular for Pilates as well as Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Remedial Massage, Podiatry and Dietetics.

Bruno Rebello

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Bruno is physiotherapist with over 15 years’ experience in the private practice setting. He graduated from his Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2003. In 2006 he completed his Post Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Bruno has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.

Some of the highlights of his career include:

– Physio part of the team caring for professional Brazilian Soccer player Ronaldo ‘Phenomenon’;
– Granted rights to practice Physiotherapy in Australia after completing the Australian Physiotherapy Council Exams, a well-known process in the industry due to its high standards;
– Physio for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games working with athletes from Weightlifting and at the Athlete’s Village Polyclinic;
– Physio for the Australian Judo Nationals and Queensland International Open of Judo since 2016;
– Physio for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 working with athletes from Weightlifting, Wrestling and Badminton

Bruno is passionate about movement analysis and pain science. He thoroughly enjoys working with clients from all backgrounds and has a passion for assisting participants of CrossFit, Gymnasts and Combat Sports. Although gentle by nature, he is a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Bruno also enjoys surfing and weight training.

Veronica Poniatowski

General Physiotherapy

Veronica graduated from the University of South Australia in 2014 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and completed her Certificate III & IV in fitness with Australian Institute of Personal Training in 2015.

Veronica has predominately worked in the private musculoskeletal sector & sports physiotherapy including experience in exercise prescription, Pilates & hydrotherapy and this is where her passion lies! She has also worked with football teams for 5 years & then moved onto working with Crossfit athletes.

Between 2018-2020, Veronica was travelling around Europe, not only experiencing different cultures but also being a registered physiotherapist in the UK and in France where she completed two winter seasons in the French Alps.

Veronica is dedicated and passionate about improving clients clinical experience, general health, fitness and all-over the quality of life!

Veronica loves health, loves fitness, loves travelling & outdoor activities!

She recently moved to Queensland in March 2020 & is very excited to settle into the amazing lifestyle the Gold Coast has to offer!

Kamila Rebello

Remedial Massage

Kamila is Brazilian by birth and Australian by choice. She arrived in Australia in 2008 as an Overseas Qualified Physiotherapist and Remedial Massage Therapist. She has completed several Remedial Massage Therapy Courses in Brazil before completing her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2006.

In Australia, Kamila has completed a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy as well as a Pilates Certificate. Kamila’s training background gives her advanced expertise which she puts at her clients’ disposal by helping them to achieve their full potential.

In Kamila’s toolbox, you will find advanced manual therapy skills such as myofascial releases, trigger point therapy, PNF stretching, muscle energy technique, lymphatic drainage and more.

Kamila is really passionate about her work and having the opportunity to help others along the way.

During her free time, you will find Kamila outdoors with her dog Astro, riding her bike or having a coffee, one of her passions. She is also a beginner Brazilian jiu-jitsu player.

Shannon Darlington

Exercise Physiologist

Shannon completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Graduate Diploma of Exercise Physiology at Griffith University, Gold Coast in 2015. Since graduating Shannon has worked in private practice and has experience working with chronic conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, occupational rehabilitation and injury prevention and management.

Shannon has developed a special interest in neuromuscular conditions, pre and post-operative rehabilitation, musculoskeletal injuries, chronic disease management and weight loss.

Shannon also provides Pilates-based rehabilitation for a wide array of chronic conditions and injury rehabilitation.

Shannon provides a tailored exercise program/class targeted to your individual level of strength, fitness, injuries and goals. Shannon loves helping patients achieve their goals, no matter how big or small they are.

Fareez Shelton

Exercise Physiologist

Fareez completed his Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2017 at University of South Australia. He developed his interest in sports during his high school years where he was involved in various sporting teams. With all of his sporting involvement, Fareez unfortunately suffered multiple injuries in his wrist, shoulders, knee, hip and lower back. It was during his university studies he developed an interest in injury prevention, musculoskeletal strength and conditioning.

Fareez has work with patient from GP referral, NDIS, DVA, Return to work and Private patients. In South Australia, Fareez structured a “vet and mates” program involving past war veterans to be involved with the local community by organising exercise group class and social events. Fareez biggest accomplishment was aiding a bilateral lower limb leg amputee walking without support. Fareez believes that exercise should be fun, enjoyable and achievable.

Fareez enjoys bouldering, surfing, hiking, food, traveling, reading books and socialising. He is also fluent in speaking Malaysian and Indonesian.

Finding Robina Sports & Spinal and Parking Information:

Robina Sports and Spinal is situated in suite 36 at 58 Riverwalk Ave, on the 3rd floor of the HQ Building.

To find the HQ Building, from the Pacific Motorway M1, take exit 82. Turn onto Robina Parkway and continue towards Robina Shopping Centre. At the first roundabout turn left (onto Laver Drive) and you will see the HQ @ Robina building on your right.

To access the carpark, you will need to do a U-turn at the next roundabout driving back towards Robina Parkway and the entrance will be on your left.

Robina parking is available at the front of the building in the ‘visitor’ car parks if these are full, we have 2 spaces available on basement level 1 which are numbered 36.
