Accredited Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals providing exercise and lifestyle therapies to prevent and manage chronic disease, injury, and disability.
An Exercise Physiologist (EP) is a 4 year, University-trained Allied Health professional who is an exercise prescription expert. They will work with you to design a specific exercise program tailored to your injuries, health status and goals.
Our Exercise Physiologists at Sports & Spinal can help your condition by working with you to formulate an appropriate treatment plan to assist in reaching your specific goals. Exercise Physiologists use movement and exercise in conjunction with specific education and motivational guidance to treat and manage your conditions.
Sports & Spinal’s accredited Exercise Physiologist can assist with Diabetes & Obesity, General Health & Wellbeing, Mental Health Issues, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Neurological Conditions, Strength & Conditioning, Women’s Health, Aging, Chronic Pain, Fatigue, Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Paediatrics and Cancer.
Exercise facilitates changes within the body that increases its efficiency. This allows us to be able to manage conditions or diseases, that can cause our bodies to not function to the best ability.
You can expect our Exercise Physiologist to listen to your personal story and ask questions, so they can work with you to guide an appropriate treatment plan. Our Exercise Physiologist will complete a detailed, goal-focused, clinical, and functional assessment.
Treatment will vary and be specific to you but will likely involve modified movement and exercises to build your capacity and function through strength, fitness, balance, and more. Treatment will change and progress while working alongside your Exercise Physiologist. Our Exercise physiologists will provide education on health, conditions, injuries and what to do and what not to do may take place in different environments, including our onsite gym, your regular gym and pools, depending on your interests and goals. Our Exercise Physiologist believes in a multi-disciplinary approach and will work with other health professionals to help manage your condition.

What Baringa Patients Say
I came to Sports & Spinal Baringa after a back injury at work, and I couldn’t be happier with the care I received. Everyone was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Jess and Georgia, the physiotherapists, were fantastic — really supportive and knowledgeable. Paul, the Exercise Physiologist, made the next stage of my recovery professional, informative, and genuinely empowering.
I’ve finished my program feeling stronger, more confident, and ready to keep progressing. Huge thanks to the whole team! Patrick
Great clinic, Been receiving treatment from Paul & Jess here for the past year for a complex condition about 6 other clinics over the years couldn’t figure out, lovely service 😁
Tim is an excellent physio. I have made great progress since I started seeing him.
I have been fortunate to have had the support and guidance from Tim Lynch when and if required, for my battle torn body over a number of years now, and more recently for a quite complex knee injury. Combined with Paul Scalise (Exercise Physiologist)/ coach these two have taken me from barely able to walk to being active and athletic again for which I am most great full. I am in my mid 60’s, was previously a professional athlete, achieving Club, State, National and World titles in my sport.
During this time I had the opportunity to work with many top level practitioners of Sportsmed/rehab around the Globe and have a pretty good knowledge of quality care.
There areI over ten physio clinics within 10 minutes travel of my home and work, (and no offence to them) I choose to travel a 2 hour round trip to see Tim and Paul.
Angie and Louise at reception/ practice management are always welcoming, helping all to run like clockwork. With a personalised approach the team have me moving well again.
Sincere thanks to all!
Grant Hodson.
I was so happy with the service I received at Baringa Sports and Spinal. I was able to get in for an appointment quickly with Simon, the service is friendly and professional and my pain was quickly diagnosed and treated. Feeling so much better! Should have taken the time to get there sooner! 🙂
Tim was fantastic, explained everything really clearly, listened genuinely and provided great advice.
Awesome results! I am so grateful, I was referred to Simon Coughlin. Simon has nurtured me through a debilitating knee injury. He is the consumate professional, great knowledge, experience and communication. I have no hesitation in referring Simon to family and friends.
I have found Simon to be very professional. He is very good at what he does and he explains why he is doing certain exercises. He has been treating me for MS and I have noticed alot of improvements in my mobility

Where your health journey begins 💙
Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Emily Abbott, has been bringing professional guidance to the Raising Mamas program, supporting new mums in the early months after birth.
Exercise physiology is a recognised and essential part of Australia’s health system, supported through Medicare, DVA, the NDIS and private health funds. Yet it is still subject to GST. This means people managing conditions like diabetes, heart disease, obesity and mental health challenges are paying extra for care that helps them live better, healthier lives.
We don’t think that’s right, which is why we’re supporting Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) in their campaign to remove GST from exercise physiology services.
Our team are calling on our community to support @essa_au`s petition to reach 50,000 signatures.

We are set to open our doors to the new-look space in May! Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the reveal.
