Accredited Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals providing exercise and lifestyle therapies to prevent and manage chronic disease, injury, and disability.

An Exercise Physiologist (EP) is a 4 year, University-trained Allied Health professional who is an exercise prescription expert. They will work with you to design a specific exercise program tailored to your injuries, health status and goals.

Our Exercise Physiologists at Sports & Spinal can help your condition by working with you to formulate an appropriate treatment plan to assist in reaching your specific goals. Exercise Physiologists use movement and exercise in conjunction with specific education and motivational guidance to treat and manage your conditions.

Sports & Spinal’s accredited Exercise Physiologist can assist with Diabetes & Obesity, General Health & Wellbeing, Mental Health Issues, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Neurological Conditions, Strength & Conditioning, Women’s Health, Aging, Chronic Pain, Fatigue, Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Paediatrics and Cancer.

Exercise facilitates changes within the body that increases its efficiency. This allows us to be able to manage conditions or diseases, that can cause our bodies to not function to the best ability.

You can expect our Exercise Physiologist to listen to your personal story and ask questions, so they can work with you to guide an appropriate treatment plan. Our Exercise Physiologist will complete a detailed, goal-focused, clinical, and functional assessment.

Treatment will vary and be specific to you but will likely involve modified movement and exercises to build your capacity and function through strength, fitness, balance, and more. Treatment will change and progress while working alongside your Exercise Physiologist. Our Exercise physiologists will provide education on health, conditions, injuries and what to do and what not to do may take place in different environments, including our onsite gym, your regular gym and pools, depending on your interests and goals. Our Exercise Physiologist believes in a multi-disciplinary approach and will work with other health professionals to help manage your condition.

Maroochydore Sports & Spinal is NDIS registered and accepts Medicare rebates and HICAPS health fund claims. EFTPOS and credit card facilities are also available for payment.

WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF US

Great clinic! Really recommend all physio and podiatry services. Team is professional and clinic is in a great location! Special mention to their Podiatrist Tim who is great at his job!
Lovely place .Very good professional people. Staff very friendly and very obliging. Matt my physio is very caring and does not expect me to do more than I am capable off. Very happy place. I certainly do recommend Sports and Spinal Maroochydore! :)
A few reviews here towards the team at Sports and Spinal Maroochydore which i have experienced.1.Carly is one of most is by far the best physio I have seen, very professional, knowledgeable, productive and supportive. If you're serious about recovering from an injury then I would strongly recomment seeing Carly.2. Joe- Very passionate about fitness and helping people recoving from injuries. He had been nothing but knowledgeable, understanding and supportive. Good bloke.3. Front Admin staff.. The ladies at the front desk raise the bar high, nothing but helpful, nothing is a big deal, each person who walks in the door and over the phone ( which I have noticed) is given nothing but high level of customer service. I only wish other company followed theses guys lead.NO ONE is treated as a number.Overall I have found the everyone Sports and Spinal Maroochydore use the lost art of communication , very one works as a team for the best outcome for the patient before, during and after treatment.
I have been attending this clinic for the last 4 years, including their Physio services, Massage service, Podiatry and Physio exercise classes. The staff are amazing, friendly and are always willing to go out of their way to assist you. I find the services that they provide to be extensive and affordable. A special mention to the best Physio on the coast (Laura Perry) If you need someone who is kind yet knows how to put the body back together, than she is the lady for you!
I can highly recommend Sports and Spinal at Maroochydore. The staff are wonderful and very skilled at what they do. Pilates classes are individualised to suit my needs and the instructors are highly skilled and so supportive. I really felt like they cared about me and my rehab journey.

Do you know what MS is? How does it affect the human body? Can it be treated? Let us explain 👇

🧠 Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Today, 2.8 million people around the world have MS.

🧠 MS is an inflammatory demyelinating condition. It is caused by damage to myelin – a fatty material that insulates nerves. In MS, the loss of myelin affects the way nerves conduct electrical impulses to and from the brain. Symptoms can include blurred vision, weak limbs, tingling sensations, unsteadiness, memory problems, and fatigue.

🧠 Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40. MS is two to three times more common in women than in men. There is no drug that can cure MS, but treatments are available which can modify the course of the disease.

The Sports & Spinal team can help those with MS. Get in touch with our team today to learn more

Exercise Right Week 🏃‍♂️

How does exercise help with mental health?

There is ample evidence that suggests exercise is an effective treatment method for people suffering from acute and chronic mental illness.

Exercise can make a big difference in mood and needs to be a fundamental part of mental health treatment. Even one workout a week is known to have great benefits.

Exercise can also counteract the side effects of some medications such as reducing the risk of falling by strengthening muscles and helping control body weight and blood pressure.

Exercise Right Week 🏃‍♂️

Exercise Right Week is aimed at encouraging all Australians to be more active and to know where to get the *right* advice when it comes to moving more.

This year’s theme is Exercise for the Right Reasons. Why?

Because a lot of the dialogue in the health and fitness industry turns exercise into a chore or punishment. It pushes exercise as merely a weight-loss tool or a way to create an “ideal” body. This can create a negative relationship between our minds and movement. We want to change that.

This Exercise Right Week, we want to highlight some of the incredible physical, mental, and social health benefits of exercise (that have NOTHING to do with the number on the scale!)

Saturday marked National Cheese Day! 🧀

We all love a little bit (or a lot!) of cheese in our diets but sometimes cheese can come with the stigma that it's not good for us. To help clear that myth up, Sports & Spinal Dietitian Caitlin has weighed in on what she thinks about cheese in our diets 👇

Cheese Pros:
🧀 Good source of protein and calcium
🧀 Lots of different types that can be used for different things
🧀 Hard cheeses are low in lactose so are still suitable for people with lactose intolerance

Things to be mindful of:
🧀 Can be more energy-dense, so you may like to choose lite options depending on your nutrition goals
🧀 Need to be mindful of food safety when including them in sandwiches/salads/other dishes
🧀 Need to keep cold with an ice brick in a cool bag when at school or work if you don't have access to a fridge

If you need help with their cheese intake or diet get in touch with your local Sports & Spinal team today!
World Hygiene Day 🤝

This year's theme for World Hand Hygiene Day is focused on recognizing that we can add to a facility's safety culture and quality through cleaning our hands but also that a strong quality and safety culture will encourage people to clean their hands at the right times and with the right products.

Sports & Spinal prides itself on instilling high hygiene standards across all our practices and services. We take hygiene seriously 🧼

Unite, talk and work together on hand hygiene for high quality safer care everywhere.
