Laura Perry

Low Back & Pelvic Pain

Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia, and since then has been working in rehabilitation centres, as well as private practice. Laura has developed a passion for low back and spinal rehabilitation and working closely with GPs and specialists. Laura believes in a holistic approach to injury and management by addressing issues at a functional and impairment level to help her patients achieve their goals and to get them back to optimal functioning and performance.

Laura has postgraduate training in the lower back and pelvic injuries, as well as clinical Pilates and spinal rehabilitation, and regularly attends further training to ensure that her clinical skills and knowledge are kept up-to-date. Laura enjoys the outdoors, surfing and spending time with family and friends.

Briony McSwan

Neck Pain & Headache Rehab

Briony has been with Sports and Spinal since 1998. She has a wealth of experience in all areas of physiotherapy but for over a decade has focussed particularly on the treatment and management of head, neck and jaw pain, as well as dizziness and vestibular dysfunction.

Briony has achieved Competency level Vestibular training and has been a Watson Headache practitioner for over 15 years. Watson techniques for headaches are internationally recognised and renowned and can be a breakthrough in the management of chronic headache and migraine.

Steve Osborne

General Physiotherapy

Steve trained in the UK qualifying as a Physiotherapist in 2002. He initially worked in the UK national health system for 6 yrs and then moved back to NZ to run his own clinic for 13yrs. Steve has an extensive background in the health and fitness industry after gaining an Advanced Certificate in Exercise Science in 1992 and worked as a fitness instructor for over 10 years in Auckland and London.

Steve has been qualified in Acupuncture and Pilates since 2006. Steve has completed post-graduate training in Watson Headache Method, Manipulative Therapy Techniques, Dry Needling, Myofascial Massage and he is also trained in Vestibular Rehabilitation.

Steve believes in functional training and getting to the cause of your problems which leads to a longer-lasting and more effective long-term result. Steve’s goal is to get you better than you were pre-injury/operation.

Steve is also a keen photographer, enjoys fishing and mountain biking and is kept busy by his three children.

Julia Wilson

Women's Health Physiotherapist

After graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Monash University, Julia was able to gain experience in Melbourne, Wales, and England before moving up to the Sunshine Coast. Through this time, Julia has developed a passion for treating Women’s Health conditions and has completed a range of courses in this area. In particular, Julia enjoys empowering women to better understand their bodies and teaching them how to do everything they love. She has experience treating a wide range of conditions including pre and postnatal conditions, prolapse, incontinence, constipation, and pelvic pain.

In her spare time, Julia loves travelling, eating good food & learning to surf.

Carly Burch

General Physiotherapy

Carly has gained a wealth of experience in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, with a special interest in the management of neck and shoulder pain. Carly has a passion for working with her patients to help them overcome injury and return to optimal function. She will work relentlessly to help you achieve your goals. Carly often utilities Pilates-based rehabilitation with her patients to allow them to continue to improve beyond their injury. When she’s not at the clinic, Carly is likely to be found out on a run with her dog Ollie, or out to breakfast with friends.

Matthew Williams

General Physiotherapy

After sustaining a low back injury on the football field that left Matt unable to tie his shoes, Matt turned his attention from sport to studying Physiotherapy to give the others same experience that got him pain-free and back on the sporting field.

Matt completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Australian Catholic University in Brisbane with a special interest in sport and exercise. Matt is new to the Sunshine Coast having spent the past year working with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions in Geelong.

Kelly Kortick

Physiotherapist

Kelly completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at the University of Newcastle and worked in private practice before moving to the Sunshine Coast. Kelly believes in a holistic approach to injury and disease management to help improve the overall health and well-being of patients. She is devoted to developing individualized treatment programs around patient-centred goals using the latest evidence. Kelly also has a background as a group fitness instructor and has played lots of different sports from a young age which established her passion for health and fitness. Outside of work you will find Kelly at the beach, hiking, running or at Crossfit.

Aidan Hermence

Physiotherapist

Aidan Hermence joins the Sports & Spinal team after graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours). During his studies, Aidan developed a passion for musculoskeletal conditions, as well as strength and conditioning. He believes in a holistic approach to rehabilitation and is committed to helping every patient reach optimal functioning and performance.

As a life-long Sunshine Coast local, Aidan is familiar with the active and outdoor lifestyle that comes with the region. His personal experience in surf lifesaving, running, surfing and CrossFit gives him a unique perspective that allows him to treat every patient with care and consideration.

Chris Flavel

Exercise Physiologist

Chris completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) in 2007 at the University of South Australia. Chris has vast experience across all aspects of Exercise Physiology, including chronic disease management, aged care, orthopaedics, student mentoring, and elite athlete conditioning/rehabilitation.
Chris is a husband and father of 4 active kids and has recently moved to the Sunshine State from South Australia with his family.
Chris’ most recent role was that of Regional Manager at an NDIS provider in Brisbane, where he gained valuable skills within the NDIS. Chris is keen to get back to working with clients to provide professional and personal guidance to activity and health.
Chris loves working with clients to achieve their life goals, with a person/individual-centred approach, promoting activity (fun!) rather than exercise (sounds hard!), recognising everyone is different and one activity/exercise program won’t work for everyone. You have your own likes/dislikes and goals, and he’ll guide you to achieve them.

Remedial Massage Therapist

Jarryd has over 10 years of experience as a Remedial Massage Therapist and during that time, Jarryd has worked with a range of clients, from world-class and Olympic athletes to the weekend warriors. As an ex-track and field athlete and coach, Jarryd has a passion for encouraging people to be the best they can be. Jarryd enjoys exploring the great outdoors with his 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks (the boys), bush walks, beach runs and camping.

Tim Boyle

Running, Sports & Exercise Podiatrist

Tim graduated from the Queensland University of Technology as a Podiatrist in 2006. He has gained valuable experience over the last eight years working in a multidisciplinary sports medicine clinic. Within this setting, Tim had the pleasure of working alongside medical & allied health professionals including Sports Doctors, Physiotherapists, and Massage Therapists.

Tim enjoys a broad scope of podiatry including sports injuries of the lower limb, biomechanical assessments, gait analysis, orthotic therapy, footwear assessments and recommendations, diabetic foot assessments and treatment of conditions of the toenails and skin.  Tim is particularly passionate about running biomechanics and footwear advice/prescription, a special interest that commenced through his strong interest in athletics and involvement in the footwear industry.

Over the years Tim has treated a number of senior and junior athletes from a range of different sports, including 2 years treating both the Brisbane Roar and Brisbane Roar youth teams.

Tim is a sports enthusiast himself having been involved in a number of sports from a young age competing at a state level in Athletics and Basketball.

Blake Withers

General Care, Sports & Exercise Podiatrist

Blake graduated with a Bachelor of Podiatry from the University of Newcastle. He has always held a deep interest in health, fitness and the human body leading him towards his chosen profession of podiatry. He continually expands his knowledge and skills to keep up to date with the latest science behind lower limb conditions and injuries.

Blake enjoys all aspects of podiatric care but holds a special interest in sports and biomechanical podiatry (including paediatric patients). The most important thing for Blake is helping his patients achieve their goals.

In his spare time, Blake enjoys the outdoors and many sports including Rugby League, surfing, running and CrossFit.

Samantha Kiorgaard

Dietitian

Samantha studied a Bachelor of Dietetics at the University of the Sunshine Coast and is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian. Samantha provides a warm and understanding environment in which she supports clients on their journey to improved wellbeing and quality of life. With her knowledge of food and medical nutrition therapy, she encourages sustainable eating behaviours and provides dietary advice that is guided by a client-centred approach, tailoring to the individual needs and unique background of each person. Samantha believes that food doesn’t have to be complicated in order to lead a healthy lifestyle and is meant to be enjoyed.
Samantha has special interests in sports nutrition, bariatric surgery (pre & post), gastrointestinal issues and elderly nutrition.

Domonique Doyle

Psychologist

Domonique is a performance psychologist who has received a Master of Psychology (Sport and Exercise) from the University of Queensland. Domonique has a diverse range of experience working in mental health including mental health case management, performance psychologist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and several sports academies, spinal cord injury, NDIS, work cover, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and general psychological counselling and services.

Domonique is passionate about helping clients improve their quality of life and achieve goals in a safe and heard environment through face-to-face, telehealth, and/or video platform.

Without restricting to any presenting issue, Domonique welcomes all enquiries for therapy with a special interest in depression and anxiety, athlete wellbeing, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) support, work cover (including pain and injury support), substance use, LBTIQ+, and general counselling.
