Accredited Exercise Physiologists (EPs) are highly qualified allied health professionals specialising in providing exercise and lifestyle therapies to prevent and manage chronic diseases, injuries, and disabilities.
An EP undergoes four years of university training to become an exercise prescription expert. They will collaborate with you to create a personalised exercise program tailored to your specific injuries, health status, and goals.
At Sports & Spinal, our Exercise Physiologists are dedicated to helping you manage your condition by formulating a suitable treatment plan that aligns with your specific goals. They utilise movement and exercise, along with targeted education and motivational guidance, to effectively treat and manage various health conditions.
Our accredited Exercise Physiologists have expertise in addressing a wide range of concerns, including Diabetes & Obesity, General Health & Wellbeing, Mental Health Issues, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Neurological Conditions, Strength & Conditioning, Women’s Health, Aging, Chronic Pain, Fatigue, Cardiovascular Health, Pulmonary Health, Paediatrics, and Cancer.
Exercise plays a vital role in enhancing the body’s efficiency, which enables us to better manage conditions or diseases that may impact our overall functioning.
When you visit our Exercise Physiologist, you can expect them to attentively listen to your personal story and ask relevant questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs. They will conduct a detailed, goal-focused, clinical, and functional assessment to guide the development of an appropriate treatment plan.
The specific treatment you receive will be customised to your unique circumstances and may involve modified movements and exercises aimed at improving your strength, fitness, balance, and other functional abilities. As you progress, your treatment plan will be adjusted accordingly, ensuring continued progress. Our Exercise Physiologists are equipped to provide education on health, conditions, injuries, and offer guidance on what activities are beneficial and what to avoid. Treatment sessions may take place in various environments, including our onsite gym, your regular gym, or pools, depending on your interests and goals.

Alexander Jeon

Exercise Physiologist: General Musculoskeletal, Post Surgery Rehab, Athlete Performance & NDIS

Alex joined Sports & Spinal team in 2025, contributing his expertise honed over a decade in the fitness industry. His affinity for an active lifestyle started with golf, where he attained amateur status. Transitioning into CrossFit, he underwent a remarkable 20kg weight loss, sparking his passion for health and fitness. This transformative experience led him to start his journey as a CrossFit coach.

His quest for knowledge took him to Brisbane, where he delved into studies as a clinical exercise physiologist at Queensland University of Technology.

Throughout his time in the city, he engaged in diverse roles, including strength and conditioning for UQ Heavies Colts Rugby Union, Brisbane Grammar Basketball, Valleys Diehard Rugby League, and specialised golf strength training for KLPGA players.

His multifaceted role as a personal trainer added depth to his coaching experience. Upon completing his studies, he seized an opportunity in Toowoomba at the Fit Lab. He not only became the Exercise Physiologist Team Leader but also assumed the role of a high-performance coach. His responsibilities spanned clinical programs such as Bariatric lifestyle intervention, Oncology programs, and the St Andrew Cardiac Rehabilitation program.

His journey continued with concurrent roles in strength and conditioning for Darling Downs Rugby 7’s, Volleyball Pirates, and SWQ Thunder Men’s (achieving two Grand Final appearances in FQPL 2020 & 2021 seasons).

In 2022, he took on the role of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Western Clydesdales Colts S&C, and in 2023, proudly led the strength and conditioning efforts for the Inaugural Western Clydesdales Queensland Cup Squad.

Following his time in Toowoomba it was decided best for him to move back to Brisbane to continue pursuing his role as an Exercise Physiologist where he has a strong interest in sports related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. Outside of work he continues to stay active by going for runs and strength training.

Alex is available for exercise physiology consults at Sports & Spinal Springfield.
