Pilates @ Nambour Sports & Spinal

Clinical Pilates is now referred to as Core, Strength and Mobility Classes Studio or Mat to keep in line with recent changes to Private Health Insurance.
Sports & Spinal’s Clinical Pilates classes are based on seven key principles: Breathing, Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Flow and Efficiency of Movement and Flexibility.

Benefits of our classes are Improved Core Strength & Posture, Increased Flexibility & Muscular Strength, Injury Prevention, Injury Rehabilitation, Restoring Regular Movement, Improved Breathing Control, Enhanced Muscular Control & Co-Ordination, Improved Fitness Levels & Balance, Pre & Post-Natal Exercises.

Safe, dynamic stability programs, with small group participants of 4 people in a session. The class runs for 60 minutes and is ran by University Qualified instructors (Either Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist). The intimate classes mean that you form a relationship with your Pilates Instructor who will know your body and what you need.

Our classes are ideal for injury rehabilitation and prevention, pre and postnatal recovery and are individually tailored rehab programs based on goals and initial assessment.

To begin our classes, you will need to have an initial assessment, with one of our Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist, the clinician will conduct an initial assessment and design a program specific to your needs. After the initial assessment, the first 2 weeks are FREE! (Unlimited classes). Once the 2-week trial ends, Sports & Spinal have the flexibility to book sessions individually, in a pack of 10 or within a membership (3, 6 or 12 months & direct debit options available, speak to reception to find out more)

Our Core, Strength & Mobility classes sessions are claimable on Private Health Insurance.

Our Pilates classes are held within our Nambour Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy clinic which can be found at 1/2/4 Nambour – Mapleton Rd. Bookings are essential for our Core, Strength & Mobility classes.

Classes are available Monday to Saturday. Medicare rebates and HICAPS health fund claims are available. EFTPOS and credit card facilities are also available for payment. Ben Hones

Neck and Shoulder Rehab

Ben completed his Physiotherapy degree in New Zealand at the University of Otago in 2010. Since then he has treated a range of patients in private practice and has developed a clinical interest in the treatment of neck and shoulder conditions.

By supporting his practice with the latest evidence, postgraduate courses, and taking a holistic approach, he supports patients towards their individual goals.

He enjoys all things outdoors, with sporting interests including hiking, surfing, rugby, and martial arts.

Montana Morrison

General Physiotherapy

Montana has recently completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at James Cook University in her home town of Townsville, before relocating to the Sunshine Coast. Driven by a passion for enhancing movement and kicking goals, Montana believes every individual requires a unique and holistic approach to ensure successful outcomes. Montana aims to optimise self-management to enhance the quality of life.

Montana enjoys an active lifestyle, often participating in hikes and treks, and enjoys time at the gym. Overall, the beach is the place you will find her when she is not in the clinic, attempting to master surfing.

Montana is available for Physiotherapy appointments at our Nambour clinic.

Sophie Stewart

Chronic Pain & Back Rehab

Sophie graduated from the University of Queensland with honours in 2010 and has worked in private practice ever since. Sophie has a huge passion for physiotherapy and believes in a holistic approach to patient care with great importance placed on active rehabilitation and education towards long-term self-management. Her passion lies with rehabilitation from chronic conditions, persistent pain and rehabilitation during and after cancer treatment.

The evidence is overwhelming to indicate that a multidisciplinary approach to treatment yields the best outcomes for patients, therefore Sophie places great importance on communication between patient, physio and all health professionals involved in the recovery process. Sophie believes this team approach will ensure the best possible outcome and care for her patients.

Letitia McWhinnie

General Physiotherapist

Letitia is a qualified Physiotherapist who recently graduated from the University of South Australia in 2019. Letitia has experience working with a wide variety of clientele in the community setting since moving to the coast in January this year. Letitia believes in taking a holistic approach to patient care and working alongside each individual to help them achieve their goals and regain function. She aims to use exercise prescription and education in order to help her patients maximise their quality of life.

Outside of the clinic, Letitia enjoys being outdoors and living an active lifestyle, particularly spending time at the beach and learning to surf.
