North lakes Pilates @ Sports & Spinal

Clinical Pilates is now referred to as Core, Strength and Mobility Classes Studio or Mat to keep in line with recent changes to Private Health Insurance.
Sports & Spinal’s Clinical Pilates classes are based on seven key principles: Breathing, Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Flow and Efficiency of Movement and Flexibility.

Benefits of our classes are Improved Core Strength & Posture, Increased Flexibility & Muscular Strength, Injury Prevention, Injury Rehabilitation, Restoring Regular Movement, Improved Breathing Control, Enhanced Muscular Control & Co-Ordination, Improved Fitness Levels & Balance, Pre & Post-Natal Exercises.

Safe, dynamic stability programs, with small group participants of 4 people in a session. The class runs for 60 minutes and is ran by University Qualified instructors (Either Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist). The intimate classes mean that you form a relationship with your Pilates Instructor who will know your body and what you need.

Our classes are ideal for injury rehabilitation and prevention, pre and postnatal recovery and are individually tailored rehab programs based on goals and initial assessment.

To begin our classes, you will need to have an initial assessment, with one of our Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist, the clinician will conduct an initial assessment and design a program specific to your needs. After the initial assessment, the first 2 weeks are FREE! (Unlimited classes). Once the 2-week trial ends, Sports & Spinal have the flexibility to book sessions individually, in a pack of 10 or within a membership (3, 6 or 12 months & direct debit options available, speak to reception to find out more)

Our Core, Strength & Mobility classes sessions are claimable on Private Health Insurance.

Our Pilates classes are held within our North Lakes Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy clinic which can be found at Suite 9, Lvl 1, 12 North Lakes Drive. Bookings are essential for our Core, Strength & Mobility classes.

Classes are available Monday to Saturday. Medicare rebates and HICAPS health fund claims are available. EFTPOS and credit card facilities are also available for payment. Modern, clean and inviting, your North Lakes clinic is a popular choice for Pilates as well as Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, PsychologyRemedial Massage, Dietetics, Podiatry and Hydrotherapy classes.

Emily Stewart

Exercise Physiologist

Emily is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist since completing a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology at the Queensland University of Technology. Emily is highly passionate about helping people and believes she can help you with the use of tailored evidenced based exercise programs and lifestyle modification. Her highly welcoming and caring personality will put you at ease, enabling you to thrive throughout your rehabilitation journey. Emily has a keen interest in neurological and musculoskeletal conditions and is also a Clinical Pilates Instructor. Emily enjoys integrating this into her sessions to help improve movement efficiency.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys everything outdoors, travelling and art and is currently training for a half marathon.

Emily is available for Exercise Physiology appointments at our Redcliffe and North Lakes locations.

Montana Waddington

Physiotherapist

Born and raised in Australia, Montana graduated from the University of Queensland with 1st Class Honours. Having completed her Physiotherapy degree, she went on to work in private sports and musculoskeletal practice. It was there that she further developed her knowledge and application of manual therapy and soft tissue release techniques. She also completed courses in Dry Needling and Western Acupuncture and conducted regular Mat Pilates sessions.

Montana has recently returned from working in the UK where she gained invaluable experience in a private hospital and in private practice in central London. On the orthopaedic ward, Montana fostered her understanding of surgical procedures and protocols and developed key relationships with some of the world’s leading surgeons.

Her most recent role was in the boutique health and fitness space combining hands-on treatment with Dynamic Reformer Pilates. She taught group classes and quickly establishing herself a leading Pilates Clinician in the heart of London. Montana helped her previous company develop pre and postnatal care pathways and is always looking to extend her knowledge in this space. Her exercise prescription skills are a testament to the quality of training she received overseas.

Being a keen runner, gym-goer, and cook, Montana loves promoting a healthy (but balanced) lifestyle. She enjoys working with patients from all walks of life, and utilising the talented team here at Sports and Spinal to help her clients achieve their goals.

Georgia Nierfeld

General Physiotherapy

Georgia has graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours). Throughout her clinical practice, she has gained experience in a variety of areas in such as cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, neurological rehabilitation and paediatrics.  

Georgia has a passion for physiotherapy and health care, which is driven by the pursuit to help her clients overcome their physical barriers and achieve their goals in an active and client-centred approach. She enjoys working together with the client in order to develop a treatment plan that suits their needs.  

As her career progresses Georgia is eager to continue to expand her knowledge in specialties areas such as Women’s Health and neurological rehabilitation. Outside of work Georgia enjoys playing social sport, such as Touch Football, going for bush works and spending time with family and friends.

Julian Tubman

General Physiotherapist

Julian graduated with a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney before making the move up to Brisbane. Growing up in Sydney, Julian was involved in many sports and competed in athletics, cross country and triathlons at a high level. He counts himself lucky to have experienced many injuries, which sparked his interest in physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
As an accredited Level 1 ASCA Strength & Conditioning Coach, Julian has experience implementing specific programs to optimise performance in not only athletes but the general population. He is passionate about the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries, knowing all too well the frustrations of this process. He believes in empowering his clients to achieve their physical best, prevent injuries and lead healthy active lifestyles.
Julian has also provided coverage for NSW Athletics and Netball events as a Sports Medicine Australia Level 1 Sports Trainer. He has a special interest in overuse injuries including bone stress injuries, tendinopathies and improving running performance.
He is excited to use his experience with sports injuries, strength and conditioning, and strong hands-on skills to optimise patient outcomes.
In his spare time, you’ll find Julian exploring Brisbane and it’s surrounding, running, swimming or cycling
